Yardup shearers quarters

Formerly a functioning and practical accommodation for travelling shearers, Yardup Shearers Quarters has more recently found a new lease on life while retaining its authentic appeal.

The Quarters sleeps up to 12 people in six dorm-style rooms, making it ideal for groups looking for a real rural Australian experience.

All bedrooms are private and can be locked. The kitchen, sitting area and bathroom are communal in the true style of traditional shearers quarters , however it is likely you will have the quarters all to yourself.

You’ll feel light years away from the hustle and bustle of city life as you swap stories by the communal campfire looking over the Stirling Ranges (for use in  non-restricted fire months only).

The Quarters have been operating as short-stay accommodation at Yardup since 2002, when the last of the travelling shearing teams stopped staying on-farm.

Please note:

Yardup Shearers Quarters is fully self catered - we do not provide any meals so please be sure to bring your groceries.

We encourage you to relax and switch off during your stay. There is no Wi-Fi.

Mobile phone service may be limited depending on your carrier - we use Telstra.

Ellen and Richard were wonderfully thoughtful and generous hosts. We were greeted on arrival by a fresh basket of figs, they had a permit for and the fire all set-up ready to light, there was fresh coffee in the fridge, and a personalised welcome message. The room, bathrooms, kitchen etc were all spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated like a Country Style magazine. There were books to read about the Stirlings, recommendations of local places to eat and drink, board games, a foot heater in the room, stunning views of the Stirlings, and even a friendly visit from Wilko the dog. The showers were delightful - great pressure and heat - and the beautiful flannelette sheets and comfortable pillows and mattress were most appreciated. Thanks again for a beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable stay
